The Story Behind This Print
Back in the dune fields of Sossusvlei (see Caught in the Waves for more from this stretch of desert), this frame is built around scale — a single dune so massive it dominates the entire composition, looming over the frame like it’s advancing on the viewer rather than simply sitting still.
There’s a weight to standing at the base of a dune that size. It doesn’t feel like scenery so much as something impending — vast, patient, and completely indifferent to how small it makes you feel standing in front of it.
Each print begins as a Lumachrome exposure on metallic photographic paper, then is face-mounted beneath acrylic for extraordinary depth and color. Most images can also be custom-sized up to 120″ on the longest side — just ask.
