The Story Behind This Print
Sossusvlei’s dunes are some of the tallest in the world, and in the right light their ridgelines stop looking like sand at all. Low sun rakes across the ripples on the dune faces, throwing every small ridge into shadow while the crests catch the light — and the whole surface starts to move, at least to the eye, like a field of frozen ocean swells.
That’s the moment this print is chasing: not a single dune, but the wave-like rhythm of light and shadow running across the sand, caught right as it peaks.
Each print begins as a Lumachrome exposure on metallic photographic paper, then is face-mounted beneath acrylic for extraordinary depth and color. Most images can also be custom-sized up to 120″ on the longest side — just ask.
