The Story Behind This Print
Twin iceberg spires off the Greenland coast, lit gold as the sun dropped to the horizon — a tiny red sailboat is the only sense of scale against ice that size.
Nothing in an iceberg photograph gives away scale, because there is no standard size for one and nothing growing on it to measure against. A boat does. Once the hull in this frame registers, the spires behind it resolve as something far larger than a first read suggests — and roughly nine‑tenths of the ice is below the waterline besides, so what is showing is the small part. Low sun this far north runs along the horizon for a long time rather than dropping through it.
Each print begins as a Lumachrome exposure on metallic photographic paper, then is face-mounted beneath acrylic for extraordinary depth and color. Most images can also be custom-sized up to 120″ on the longest side — just ask.
