The Story Behind This Print
Arrived in the dark, not knowing what the scene would give up when the sun came. The stillness of the morning left a perfect reflection in the pond in the foreground.
That stillness is the whole photograph. A reflection this clean needs air that is not moving at all, which in practice means the half hour before sunrise and very little after it. The frame is stamped 6:05 on a November morning — sunrise that day was about twenty minutes off.
Each print begins as a Lumachrome exposure on metallic photographic paper, then is face-mounted beneath acrylic for extraordinary depth and color. Most images can also be custom-sized up to 120″ on the longest side — just ask.
