The Story Behind This Print
A campground on Lake Shoji, smallest of the Fuji Five Lakes, with an uninterrupted view of the mountain. We were there in the fall, and it was still mild enough to keep the canoes out — they are pulled up on the beach at the right.
Photographs of Fuji are usually made from a distance and in a hurry. This one was made from a camp chair over several days, which is a different way to see a mountain.
Each print begins as a Lumachrome exposure on metallic photographic paper, then is face-mounted beneath acrylic for extraordinary depth and color. Most images can also be custom-sized up to 120″ on the longest side — just ask.
