The Story Behind This Print
In the fall Japan’s maples erupt — reds and purples all around — and it is fun to use them to frame Fuji.
The Japanese maple turns later and holds longer than most, which is why the season is tracked and forecast across the country the way the cherry blossom is in spring, only in reverse: it starts in the north and works its way down.
Each print begins as a Lumachrome exposure on metallic photographic paper, then is face-mounted beneath acrylic for extraordinary depth and color. Most images can also be custom-sized up to 120″ on the longest side — just ask.
