The Story Behind This Print
The moon rising over icebergs off the Greenland coast, caught in that brief window when both sky and ice hold color.
This far north the moon doesn’t behave the way it does at home. In the weeks around midsummer it barely registers against a sky that never gets dark, and in winter it can circle for days without setting. The useful window is the shoulder season, when the sun is low enough to leave colour in the sky but gone enough that the moon reads. Ice helps — it takes whatever colour is going and hands it back, so sky and iceberg end up holding the same light at once.
Each print begins as a Lumachrome exposure on metallic photographic paper, then is face-mounted beneath acrylic for extraordinary depth and color. Most images can also be custom-sized up to 120″ on the longest side — just ask.
