The Story Behind This Print
A Greenland fjord at dusk, jagged peaks doubled perfectly in water so still it barely counts as water — just glass with a mountain range floating in it.
A fjord is a glacial valley the sea has moved into, which is why the walls go straight down and keep going — the water in many of them is deeper than the cliffs above are tall. That geometry is also what makes this stillness possible. There is no fetch for wind to build a swell across, so when the air goes quiet at dusk the surface has nothing to disturb it, and a mountain range comes back without a seam.
Each print begins as a Lumachrome exposure on metallic photographic paper, then is face-mounted beneath acrylic for extraordinary depth and color. Most images can also be custom-sized up to 120″ on the longest side — just ask.
