The Story Behind This Print

Joshua trees are not trees. They are yucca, and they grow only in the Mojave, which makes them a reliable way to tell you are looking at Mojave desert rather than the Sonoran or the Great Basin next door. Red Rock Canyon sits right at the western edge of Las Vegas, and the red in the cliffs is Aztec sandstone — another buried dune field turned to stone. The grey rock stacked above it is older limestone, pushed up over the top along a thrust fault.
Each print begins as a Lumachrome exposure on metallic photographic paper, then is face-mounted beneath acrylic for extraordinary depth and color. Most images can also be custom-sized up to 120″ on the longest side — just ask.
