The Story Behind This Print
A unique view of an Icelandic waterfall from a drone — known locally as the waterfall of tears, seen here from an angle no one standing on the ground ever gets.
A waterfall is normally photographed from one of two places: the bottom looking up, or a viewpoint to the side. Both are chosen for you by the terrain. A drone removes that constraint, and the view directly over a fall is a different subject altogether — the shape of the cut the water has made in the rock, the pattern of the streams feeding into it, how much of the flow is braided rather than single. From the ground none of that is visible, because you are standing inside it.
Each print begins as a Lumachrome exposure on metallic photographic paper, then is face-mounted beneath acrylic for extraordinary depth and color. Most images can also be custom-sized up to 120″ on the longest side — just ask.
