The Story Behind This Print
An amazing sunset at Haifoss, deep in the Highlands of Iceland — one of the tallest waterfalls in the country, and far enough off the ring road that the light show felt like it was just for us.
Háifoss drops 122 metres into the canyon of the Fossá, which makes it the fourth‑tallest waterfall in Iceland, and it doesn’t arrive alone — the river splits a little way upstream, so a second fall called Granni comes over the rim right beside it. Getting there means leaving the ring road for a rough track into Þjórsárdalur, and that is most of why it stays quiet. The canyon faces so that late sun comes in across it rather than down into it.
Each print begins as a Lumachrome exposure on metallic photographic paper, then is face-mounted beneath acrylic for extraordinary depth and color. Most images can also be custom-sized up to 120″ on the longest side — just ask.
