The Story Behind This Print
Same dead camel thorn trees as I AM GROOT — blackened for centuries, preserved by a climate too dry to let anything rot, since the Tsauchab River was cut off from this clay pan roughly 900 years ago. But where that shot isolates a single tree, this one is more of a gathering: several trunks standing together, composed almost like a still life, each holding its own shape and shadow against the white pan and the dunes behind it.
Each print begins as a Lumachrome exposure on metallic photographic paper, then is face-mounted beneath acrylic for extraordinary depth and color. Most images can also be custom-sized up to 120″ on the longest side — just ask.
